Biography
Biography of Ron van den Beuken (RVDB), a Dutch trance and dance music DJ and producer from Horst, from the early aliases to the mid-2000s charts.
Horst and Maastricht
He is from Horst in Limburg. Some references name the nearby village of Meterik, in the same municipality. Sources disagree on the birth year, 1965 or 1970, so this archive does not pick one.
He studied at the Maastricht conservatory and started a law degree, which the Dutch biography says he did not finish. Dance became the work. English-language accounts add that he had conducted for about twelve years.
Other names
In the late 1990s he produced Feel It for the project 8 Hands, the club record that first made him noticeable. Keep It Up, for J&R Project, then reached the Scandinavian top 10.
The aliases came next. Shane with C’est Musique, then The Mystery in 2001: released in many countries, a UK Top 75 entry, played by Dave Pearce and Johan Gielen. The follow-up, Devotion (All I Ever Wanted), was supported in 2002 by Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Blank & Jones, and Judge Jules.
Clokx and the Dancesmash run
Clokx arrived in 2003, a dance reading of Coldplay’s Clocks. It topped a string of dance charts and entered the Dutch Single Top 100 at number 52.
That August, Timeless came out under the name Ron van den Beuken: a Radio 538 Dancesmash, tip 9 in the tip parade, and number 60 on the Single Top 100. Overdrive, billed as Ron van den Beuken presents Clokx, was the first Top 40 entry — number 35, number 29 on the Single Top 100, and another Dancesmash.
In February 2004 Twister, made with Sander van Doorn as Sam Sharp, became yet another Dancesmash. The summer remix of Katana’s In Silence closed the run: four Dancesmashes in about a year, which is how the Dutch Wikipedia describes that stretch.
Sunset
Endless (2004) collected dance-chart number ones, reached 47 on the Single Top 100, and 27 on Flanders’ Ultratop 50. The sales peak was different: Sunset, released on 1 May 2005. Number 22 on the Single Top 100, number 28 in the Top 40 for three weeks, and another Dancesmash.
The same year brought Feelings (My Children) and Tibet under Clokx. In 2006 Find the Way reached 35 on the Single Top 100. He was also remixing widely. Biographies name Sash!, 4 Strings, Blank & Jones, Dj Quicksilver, and Tatana among others.
The album, the festival, and after
Collected, the first solo album, arrived in April 2008. English-language biographies describe five Netherlands concerts with a symphony orchestra that May and June. He was also building the Alcatrazz open-air: the 2008 edition is described with more than 35 DJs, five stages, and over 6,000 visitors. The track Alcatrazz had already come out in May 2007, at number 67 on the Single Top 100.
Later singles arrived more quietly. Catch Your Fall, as Clokx, reached 24 in the 2010 Top 40. House of Cards followed in 2014 with Nils van Zandt and Monty Wells. His Spotify profile lists production tied to Spinnin’ Records and festival dates such as Sensation, Trance Energy, Mayday, and Creamfields.
Bittersweet Symphony, with Mark Coles, came out in 2024. In a July 2026 Formula Indie Sessions interview he pointed listeners to his Spotify and Instagram, and mentioned production for Ian Storm, Mr Black & Blue, and Simon C., a charity project for War Child.
